Welcome.When I originally began this site I said that my husband, Michael, and I specialize in trying to understand the times in which we live. Now, I am not certain that it is possible to specialize, or understand, something so vast and complicated. During the late 1960's Dr. James Lovelock, in looking for life on Mars (and wondering why earth was different), concluded that our planet appeared to be a living being in its own right... a self-evolving and self-regulating system. But now, forty years later, Lovelock says that we are past the point of no return (Revenge of Gaia, Penguin, February 2006.) He believes that mankind's abuse of the environment is making that system work against us...that climate change is insoluble and that life on earth will never be the same again. It would appear that as our old beliefs and concepts are tested and burned, a new way of being on the earth, in community, will emerge. If, as humans, we are responsible for everything "out of balance" we have the ability to change things. We can't wait for our leaders. We have to do it alone, person to person. Over the next few months I will be posting articles, and hosting a podcast on this site to support you in finding a "a different way" to be in the world. Michael and I believe that you are here for one thing: to make a difference. So let's get to know each other. I'll start with what I do and what we do as a partnership. |
